Student Leaders’ Roles and Responsibilities: Get Back To Basics

“If only everybody would do their jobs!” – Every leader at some time or another!

Student organizations elect new officers every year. Some are elected on merit, some on popularity, and some because they missed the meeting and got nominated, elected and confirmed without even being there!

Regardless of the circumstance, they all have one thing in common. They’ve just taken on a role with huge responsibilities and many of them don’t have a clue as to what to do or how to do it. To make things worse, their performance will affect the student’s that fall under their leadership and how they feel about your institution.

That’s where Dave’s ‘Student Leaders’ Roles and Responsibilities: Getting Back to Basics’ comes in.

  • Your students will know EXACTLY what their leadership position entails and how to accomplish all they are responsible for
  • They’ll not only learn what their responsibilities are but those of the other leaders in the organization as well. They’ll know who to look to for help and how the organization should function as a whole.
  • Everyone will know how to keep accurate records, what to keep, what you can trash, and what should be passed on to the next leadership group.
  • Your leadership will learn to function as a team, with unified goal and common purpose
  • They’ll learn how to create a smooth transition so the next person to fill their leadership position isn’t left in the dark.

This is another one of Dave’s programs that works well for one campus organization but has its maximum impact when all of the leaders and advisors from all of your student-led organizations attend together.

Dave creates breakout groups during the session where like positions get together and discuss their job duties. Presidents talk with presidents, treasurers talk with treasurers, etc. It’s a great opportunity for everyone to get on the same page and for experienced officers to work with the new kids on the block.

You’ll get your organizations running smoothly, they’ll get their goals accomplished and your officers and individual clubs will start working together for maximum results. It’s a dream come true… everyone will actually know what their job is, which is the first step to actually getting them done!
